>From the opposite corner of the country from Maine, the Marathon Supremes work well on my Atlantis both on & off pavement. Off road here is either adobe clay, not unlike concrete (why the Spanish missions have been around for hundreds of years) or rocky, sandy stuff. 35s are a bit narrow for deep sand so I'm going up to 40s next time. I don't do anything especially adventerous, mostly jeep trails & such.
