US buyers don't pay VAT, so $3200 - 3500 for a frameset at today's exchange rate.
Steve Rex, my 'local' builder, gets $2995 for a TIGed tandem frame, and $525 for a fork. Fillet brazed goes for $3595 + fork. I'm sure the Rex is a stiffer bike and that Steve can offer more sizing options, but if you've gotta have that lugged mojo the Mercian isn't such a bad deal.
