Picked up the Quickbeam today. We did a twenty mile fixed ride on some ice/show covered roads this morning to try it out. It turns out the stem was about 2 cms too long and about 3cms too low. "Ouch" said my aging back. A trip to my LBS for a shorter, taller stem and an afternoon of tweaking and it now fits me fine. A couple of hot rum drinks for this cold night and my sore back, some decent weather tomorrow and I'll do a test run on the new set up Sunday. I don't know what I was thinking on the color. The barber pole is cream as is the head tube. It is indeed a very attractive Quickbeam.. I have a 12cm Tecnomic deluxe in fair shape if anyone is interested. I was very impressed with the way the bike handled. Even with the extra weight on the front tire due to the extra reach it was very sure footed and predictable, even on the ice. I like it!
'Brief parts list for the 62cm frame: Original Sugino crank with single 40 tooth ring Rear wheel...surly fixed/fixed....16 one one side 17-19 dingle cog on other side. Original Riv front wheet Older Shimano 105 aero levers Tektro Oryx brakes 32 Pasela Tgs 48 Noodle bar..wrapped with light blue Benotto tape.10 cm Tecnomic stem Crystal Fellow seat post Wtb saddle The tall gear (67") is a bit lower than I'm used to but it definitely levels the climbs some. If not the 57" low gear will. I may change the ring to a 42 in the future, dunno yet. I have the original rear wheel that I plan to use freewheel to do some trail riding. So far I'm lovin this bike. I will post some pictures first chance. Best, Clyde On Sat, Dec 11, 2010 at 2:15 PM, ccanter <clyde.can...@gmail.com> wrote: > I promised myself no more bikes.
