What kind of rear rack do you have? Based on your account, I'm guessing that an overly flexible rear rack is contributing to the shimmy problem on your bike. I really wouldn't expect a bike with the geometry and stout tubing of the Sam Hillborne to shimmy under less than extreme loading, and was surprised to read your account when you first brought it up.
