You may recall I had tried selling the lot of trek frames here for a while
with no takers.  The lot is now up on ebay where a viewer caught my idiot
mistake and corrected me that the 420 was a 311.  I looked it up and they
were right,  The catalog cut from vintagetrek.com:

Geometry shows that it is the 55mm rake fork, and I used JimG's trail
calculator to check that yes indeed, if this were converted to 650b x 35 or
38 that you could have a ride with trail in the low 40's.  I still need to
move these out, but for someone inclined to make a budget 650b experiment,
or at least capture the fork for other73 deg head angle builds, you can see
