Thanks for all of the input. I think the best option was to have a different bike for winter. That would be a good excuse to get another Riv! Unfortunately I just bought the Sam H. and don't think I can swing another bike. I think the one of the Scwalbes non-studded should work. I did like the idea of having a different set of wheels for the winter. I'll keep you posted on what I end up with.. Bruce
