Hey Ginz,

I am using Silver shifters and the IRD front derailleur.  I found the action to 
be pretty stiff until I found out that I had the cable connected in the wrong 
way to the derailleur.  Check out the image here:

My problem wast that I had the cable going under that little knob.  It needs to 
go over.  Once I corrected that, it was smooth sailing.

Not sure if that is your issue or not, but just figured I'd throw it out there.
