But is it wrong to want some flex? I rode a Karate Monkey for a few years (which is an awesome, bomb- proof workhorse 29er)... I thought it was comfortable until I acquired a Niner MCR... they're both steel, but the vertical compliance of the Niner just plain feels better, and actually makes riding a rigid bike through rock gardens and other technical stuff pure joy. So I still want a little flex from my Bombadil, if for no other reason than because I am 52, therefore I ache.
I do love the idea that in 70 years someone may very well be riding a Bomba that is being built today. But I also love the idea that 70 years from now my great grandson may be riding MY double-TT Bombadil... I reckon it's mostly hearsay until a few get built up and ridden... then we should get an idea of the differences in ride characteristics between the "old" Bombadil (funny to be saying "old"), and the "new" Bombadil.
