Not everything posted on the board is spot on rbw topics. This is hardly more tangential than the folks posting S24Os, which I very much enjoy. I admit it's a rather ridiculous use of a pretty pricey bicycle.
The relative safety is probably somewhat dependent on the path and the dogs; we went about strolling pace, and they loved it.
