FWIW, on my 56cm Hillborne I ran a Nitto Mini/Platrack in front with a R14 and a Saddlesack Large in back for my S24O on Mt Diablo. The tent, sleeping bag, and thermarest lashed to the platrack in front. Everything else went in the Saddlesack. Worked great, including no hands riding. A picture of the setup is here:
