Will agree with Bill on those. Also Lake Elmo Park Reserve in Washington County. East of St. Paul. Again, probably 30 or so miles from downtown Minneapolis.
Slightly further out - William O'Brien State Park. About 40 miles from Minneapolis. Route is about half, or more on bike paths. (Confession, it's where I've done my S24O). Sadly, there used to be camping right in town. But that hasn't been the case for quite a few years.
