Hey Eric, big congrats on doing your first century. Will you try to do
another one, on the Sam perhaps, before the end of summer? Isn't it
great having all that time on the bike? I love it. I also love the
mixture of physical fatigue and emotional bliss I feel as I arrive
home.

I've done quite a few centuries solo and with friends (and a number of
brevets) but never an organized century. And although I did a 600k in
May I haven't been able to get out for a century this summer yet. A
friend and I headed out for a big 300k ride of our own design a few
weeks back which was cut short when he had a horrific and spectacular
high speed collision with a guard rail resulting in a trip to the ER
via helicopter and a stay in the ICU. Fortunately he's gonna be okay.
I'm in DC dealing with family tragedy right now but when I return to
Portland I'll be back on the bike and plan on doing a couple of
centuries, including one pedaling free (platform pedals) and also a
camping trip or two in which I cover 100 miles each day. We'll see
what happens. I do love all the time on the bike and the solitude.
I'd also like to do a century on my Quickbeam.

Thanks for sharing the photos and again, congratulations on your first
century.
