Hi!

Building up my Hillborne, I tried to put Deore V-brakes on it.
However, the Deores would not slide all the way down the brake post/
stud/boss/whatever. The pin which anchors the spring in one of the
holes on the brake post did not fully insert into any of the 3 holes.
Also, the front brake was protruding far enough that it interfered
with the mini front rack.

Anybody else have this experience? If so, do you feel the brake will
function reliably with the anchor not fully seated? Did you find a way
to fully seat the anchor?

(I also had some Tektro 857AL brakes; they fit fine. And they also
look stupendously ugly, especially with salmon-colored pads. They
work. But did I mention how ugly they are? Wow, are they ugly. But
this is the sort of sacrifice one makes, since the hideousness of
their ugliness and the shame of being associated with that horrible
sight in any way is far outweighed by the glory of being able to
actually ride one's Hillborne.)

Yours,
Thomas Lynn Skean
