I was lucky that there was a 200k on my birthday. I was double lucky that the heavy rains stopped the day before the ride. No chance would I have done this ride in the heavy rain. Even though it was clear, it was plenty cold for Northern California. My cutoff for full-finger gloves, long sleeve jersey and tights is 10C (50F). The forecast had the day time highs in the low 50s, and that turned out to be accurate. I think the biggest number I saw on my Garmin was 12C. At the beginning of the ride and through the valleys it was a lot colder. I was chatting with Toshi heading up Lucas Valley and I saw it drop to 3C then 2C then 1C... It got all the way down to -3C (roughly 27F) and stayed there for a good couple hours. I wore everything I carried and needed to keep moving! By Bay Area standards, that's legit cold!
