I bought my Sam in 2014 and put on Continental Speed Ride tires (42-622). 505g ea. After a couple of years I thought - “Every bike I ride in Europe has Schwalbe Marathon tires, so I’ll try those”. Put on a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Green Guard (40-622). 825g ea. I used 55 psi in both types.
It felt like I was riding through mud. I kept them on for a couple of months, to get a reasonable comparison. The reason they were used when I was renting bikes to tour Europe is that they are essentially bulletproof. But you pay for that in rolling resistance. Or at least it seemed that way to me. Either that or the added weight. So I went out and bought 3 more pairs of Continental Speed Rides. Still have a couple left. I get about 6000 miles on a set if I rotate them yearly. Never had a flat. THAT probably has to do with riding a paved bike trail (not much debris). -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
