I have an old Trek 500 - series frame that I converted to be my light touring/loaded commuter bike and while I love almost everything about it, the one drawback is that I cannot fit fenders under the sidepull brakes with the 32mm tires I run.
The bike would be just about perfect if it was downpour-capable, and I recall seeing an innovative solution in a Riv reader that I can't find anymore. I recall that someone had come up with the idea to cut the fender in two to bypass the brake bridge, and then joined the sections in some clever way that I can't recall. I was wondering if anyone on the list has done anything like this on a sidepull-braked bike? Also, my bike does not have a fender mounting tab on the rear, and I was wondering what could be done about that. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
