Sorry to hear this news. And to make matters worse it seems like the worst possible time of year for a break. You'll also be running around taking care of her and other extra duties. When I came home after foot surgery last year my wife said I could have three wishes. I said, thanks, can I have a cup of coffee? She said, "That's one!"
The only suggestion I can offer the two of you is to shop carefully for a good physical therapist. I've experienced some mediocre ones and some really good ones and it makes a big difference. Also, when she's well enough, come to VT anyway and treat yourself to a weekend at a nice B&B. Give her our best wishes for healing.
