Y'know, as I was riding home yesterday, it struck me that I left out another quick drivetrain troubleshooting tip: Put the bike in the stand and run the cranks backwards at a reasonably quick rate. If there is a stiff link in the chain, it will visibly and audibly chatter and stick when it goes through the tension and jockey wheels. A slightly tight link could definitely behave in the manner you've described, as well as cause chainsuck. > As noted the parts are pretty much stock Riv and chain is a 9spd SRAM. > I think I'll ping Riv and see what they say about installing the chain > with that 12-36t cassette since they sell that setup. You might also just eyeball the rear deralleur and hanger. Make sure that the hanger didn't get bent or twisted. - Jim "if ya don't shift, ya don't have shifting problems... ;^) " -- Jim Edgar cyclofi...@earthlink.net Cyclofiend Bicycle Photo Galleries - http://www.cyclofiend.com Current Classics - Cross Bikes Singlespeed - Working Bikes Your Photos are needed! - Send them here - http://www.cyclofiend.com/guidelines "I threw one leg over my battle-scarred all-terrain stump-jumper and rode several miles to work.
