In my experience, don't fear the long top tubes on Rivendells. I was a bit apprehensive (at 5'9"+) about going from a 54-55 standard road bike to a 57 Bleriot and 58 Saluki. They fit great and I didn't have the bars all that high. Big bikes are comfy.
