I had slip issues with my Merrell shoes and thr GKs. Then I got the Keen Coronado Cruiser shoes and the grip is excellent while still allowing me to reposition my feet without too much hassle. Five Ten Activator shoes grip amazingly well, but still gave me hotspots on a 35 mile ride, the longest I've made this year so far.
Haven't tried other pedals, but tried to go back to my SPD pedals/shoes and couldn't. I don't recognize myself anymore... Now if those darned hot spots on the left foot would go away...
