I remember stopping during one cycling commute to work long ago to shepherd a family of quail (a swarm of tiny little chicks with mother) trying to cross a busy street, but only succeeded in scattering the chicks across the adjoining field; good intention gone astray.
Our landscape is more severe than most, even the wooded area, but I do enjoy it even during short rides.
