Frankly I've never noticed or given much thought to the flex of the fork on the 1999. The bike is relatively comfortable even with 23s at 80/90 psi.
The 2003 Curt, sold, was almost identical in design, but never felt as "fast" -- which is why I eventually replaced it with the new Matthews. The cloned Matthews feels more nimble with 28 mm Elk Passes than with 42 mm Naches Passes.
