Between my wife and I, we have four bikes with silver shifters, two DT and two BE. The DT shifters can be set with a very light touch and hold that position without any loosening and skipping. However the two BE need to be tightened down to a point where the shifting is much stiffer, and sill I find after a few days of riding the D ring will loosen a bit and the chain will jump gears.
The only other variable I can think of is that the bikes with BE are more often ridden on dirt and rough roads. Has anyone else noticed this?
