For **workmanlike** value, capacity, materials, and workmanship, and 80
years of history, consider the Carradice Junior or the Carradice Cadet.
Current Carradice cotton bags aren't as well made as those from 20-30 years
ago (my ~1997 Nelson LF was *heavy* waxed canvas with duck lining, and it
would carry water like a bucket; and the leather straps and chrome hardware
were top quality), but IME Carradice have improved quality over the nadir
of circa 2010, and my recent bags are satisfactory. All this to be
considered in reference to the prices you pay when ordering direct from
Carradice or from English suppliers like SKS. Order in the US and they
become less competitive with smaller brands.
