Welcome to the Southwest. Nothing is more miserable than running out of water. I immediately start going into coffee withdrawals. In one of Heinz Stucke's stories https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_St%C3%BCcke he talks of running out somewhere in Ethiopia I think and having to go 2 or 3 days in its hot desert clime, pushing his bike through sand much of the way.
