The disadvantage of a Flickstand is that it doesn't work with fenders. Of a rubber band or surrogate, that it's a bit of a hassle. I use my stands mostly while shopping, and they are always up and down; don't want to have to fumble to find band, wedge, what have you. No big deal, really, since most of my bikes don't have stands or parking brakes of any sort.
