Extrapolating on this a bit: The Clem/Clementine project was originally envisioned as a "budget Riv" with flat black paint you could rattlecan after it got scratched on light poles and bike racks. The lower cost remained but the dang things are gorgeous, and I never ever once notice that I might be riding a cheaper Riv. It's a Riv, and Rivendell makes spectacular bicycles. ALL of them.
