Breathtaking. Thanks for your insight to stop, photograph and recall for 
description the scenes you capture. That "undulating plateau" surely comes 
under the descriptions of montane ecosystems (the Wikipedia article nicely 
categorizes) but you'll have to decide since so much depends on where you 
are proximate to the tree line.

-- in the manner that the sun "naturally" sends forth light." is good, I'd 
add the obligation of individuals to recognize and appreciate such. I did, 
and I wasn't even there! If but to catch a whiff of the dry pinion-scented
