My experience isn't quite what you're trying to do, but it still ended with two bikes. I put Ritchey quick-connects on a full size bike so I could remove the bars easily to put everything in a small car. But the reality was untwisting all those connectors was time-consuming; I never did it; I ended up buying a folder for the car.
