David,

Where are you coming from?

I saw the advice to check out Hoopdriver, Urbane, Curbside and BOW. All fine
bike shops, especially Hoopdriver (which is also farthest from the Harbourfront
area).

The reason I wonder where you are coming from is I'm wondering what you will
find different in Toronto vs. your home. If I was visiting Toronto, I'd
probably want to check out the urban stuff and the food scene. There are few
iconic bike rides, especially accessible with a bike share bike.

I might recommend either doing Tommy Thompson park, or Toronto Island by bike
(the ferry ride is also fun). Those are two enjoyable rides that get you on the
lake, and also with cool views of the city.

Toronto is also great for "ethnic" food. Check out Kensington market, and also
there are some excellent restaurants. For a unique Toronto flair I'd maybe try
Dailo, or anything along those lines. If you want to go to a good restaurant,
make reservations asap, as it is often difficult close to the date you want to
go. I have a few restaurant recommendations, but it is hard without a mandate
of what you are into.

If you like museums, I'd recommend the AGO over the ROM.

One thing about the bikeshare. You can get a pass, but each time you take a
bike only the first 30 minutes of each ride is included. After that you pay
escalating amounts depending on how long you have it out for, but again, only
for each trip. This can get up there for longer rides. It might be worth it to
use for a longer trip, but consider this aspect when planning. It is best for
using from point A to B within the zone of the docks. Curbside, amongst others,
rent bikes as well. Note that the bikeshare bikes are tanks, so not conducive
to long rides.
