Quite seriously, after having indulged my desires for custom Rivs over the years, I have come back to (I like to think) a Jobst-like, zen-trance (vacant mind, whites-of-eyes-only-showing, mouth-dribbling -- cut! cut! cut!) attitude toward bikes, that is, perfect as to fit, feel, handling, but skip, please, the purely cosmetic and ego-enhancing features. This bike fits that mindset in spades. So, beater in the sense that I don't want to upgrade simply for internal, self-to-self, bragging monologues, but definitely not a beater when it comes to fun in riding.
