It could be that your headset bearings have rubbed a little dent into the 
cup the sit in, which was explained to me at a bike shop just last night. 
 Once the bearing has made its nest, it you'll feel a little notch, and 
maybe a sound (?) when you turn.    This seems unlikely, and truly I don't 
know what I'm talking about but this was the bike-shop-guy's explanation 
for why people by super fancy headsets (which I've never understood and 
still don't entirely).
