I prefer riding a fixed gear on windy days. I kinda believe in the "flywheel" affect, it seems to help in those conditions. It also helps in climbing over short hills.
One other benefit of fixed gear riding, for me anyway, is that it helps in dialing in your riding position... especially true on fast, long descents!
