“3. 43-tooth outer chainring. Riv had a bunch of Silver brand chainrings made, sometimes in unusual but sensible sizes. I stocked up on the 35T size which enabled an application that would have been difficult otherwise. A lot of us run a 44-tooth outer chainring. Many of us even run a 42-tooth big ring. How many of us run a 43? Very few, because "nobody" makes a 43. Rivendell Bicycle Works has 143 43T outer chainrings in stock (110mm BCD). At $38 a pop, that's $5,500 of inventory that they could be using elsewhere. Grab one or two of them, and you'll smile at your next build when you have it ready. You'll be the only kid on the block with a 43T big ring. Chainrings also look super cool hanging over your workbench”
Hmmmm, I’ve got a 46t hanging on the wall. I bet I could do a good half-step with a 43 middle and 46 outer. Drives me crazy that all anyone makes is even tooth counts.
