I have wired cycle computers on my bikes, mostly Cateye Enduro 8 with the heavy wire. Installed my first wireless computer  last night. I write down the odometer reading for each at the first of the year and total up at the end. This is my 30th year of keeping track. My average is 5388/year. It took me over 20 years to get the average above 5k/yr. Hats off to Steve P. for riding 10 k/yr. My two  high mileage  years were 8900, both were years when I rode a tour of 4000 m. Retirement sure does help.  Steve

That's certainly not going to be the case this year.  We've just broken the record for rainfall in the metro DC are, makiing 2018 the wettest year ever recorded around here, and it's taken a toll on my riding.  I had hoped to reach 9,000 by year's end and it doesn't look as though I'm going to make it.  I'm at 8773, and with only 16 days remaining I'll be lucky if I can even make a nice round 8888.

My high, a few years ago when we had a lovely warm winter and early spring, was 11111 -- and when I hit that, I disconnected the computer and rode the last 4 or 5 miles back to the ride start without recording the mileage.

I rarely ride more than 10 at a time. I am an AtoB cyclist and

    ride, several times a day!

That's fine if you only ride one bike.  If you have six or seven
    in the
rotation it becomes a lot more complicated -- as does keeping
    track of
maintenance.  (When was the last time I put a new cassette on this
    bike???)
