Running errands by bike requires different route planning than by car. Once I 
figured this out, it’s been realitively simple to discover longer routes that 
are far more plesant and safe to bike and intersect with the main highway very 
little. The newish MUP helps tremendiously as well. That didn’t exist initially 
and meant I didn’t need to ride on the highway at all to get up the hill. But 
down the pass to Colorado Springs is a different story entirely. I no longer 
try to figure that out. Maybe once the planned MUP extensions happen, but as 
others have said, the timelines on those, even if stated, are unreliable.
