The pivot is located in a different place, and you have a lot less leverage than with the aero style.

hoods of non-aero levers?  I brake from the hoods with aero and non-aero 
without realizing there was some difference to be concerned with.  I guess I 
prefer aero simply to avoid catching cable with my hands while changing hand 
position.
