2.35 inches = 60 mm. For what it’s worth, when I ordered the Tandem, I spec’ed it with the G-One Speed 2.35 slicks (mounted on Cliffhangers, I think). They do clear fine on the tandem, both Med & Sm size, and there’s even enough room for SKS fenders. The handling felt to have less flop with Hetres (650x42) than with the G-Ones (650x60), but I (and the stokers) like the extra cushion as a trade off. I suspect a 650x50-55 mm tire would be optimum (which is basically how Riv had the demo set up, now that I think about it).
