Rick First of all great move I am jealous, I grew up in Portland and now live in Seattle, which is great, but I still get the yearning to live in PDX every once in a blue moon and of course its a great bike city.
Hills. Really depends on where you will live and work and ride. West Hills defintely want a sugino triple with a nice bailout, Mt Tabor or Mt Scott (hills really but whatever) yes, BUT there a vast streches in the greater Portland Metroplex where the most you would see are rollers which your 32/22 low gear on a QB ought to handle just fine. And they have great mass transit (Light rail) that might help you "over" some hills in your commute also. You might want to hold off on selling until you see the" lay of the land" so to speak and you will find plenty of Rivish folks in the Pacific NW if you do decide to sell them.
