Here is another suggestion, and I know nothing about aluminum chainring manufacture/interface:
Could it be that the very small BCD the rings have makes the rings, in effect, "longer" than most rings as they proceed outward from the center, making them more prone to flex/warp if a chainring bolt is overtightened?
