Schwalbe G-One Allround is a nice tire in 650x40. I also have the Allround in 650x57 set up tubeless. For a nice budget tire, I like the Conti Tour Rides that I got from Riv. Wired bead, $22, a continuous center strip so it rolls pretty well, and they've been bombproof for me.
