I will wholeheartedly second the recommendation for a Tilley hat. I initially balked at the price tag because I couldn’t how a Hat could be worth that much. But since I’ve owned it I have found it is worth every penny. Somehow the longer it’s on your head the more comfortable it becomes even when you are hot and sweating. It offers excellent sun protection. You can get it wet And it even floats. It’s easy to wash, you can crumple it up and it doesn’t lose it’s form. Worth every penny!
