Carla, There is or was a good fly shop in buena Vista, the name on google is ark anglers, which I think is different than when I was last there 5 years ago, but they should set you up. The Arkansas river runs between buena Vista and leadville and is pretty great fishing. Reasonable number of pull offs off of 24. There is the possibility of old stagecoach/railbed riding along the river between beuena Vista and leadville as well, but I have not looked into it at all recently. There were plans a decade ago to have an official rail trail from Salida to Leadville along the stage road, but not sure what happened to that. Good luck and let me know what you find out.
