Patrick:

Great idea! I have a few pairs of Vivos and would love to try that
stiffening strategy. I have a neuroma in one of my feet, which means I can
really only do street shoes and pedals for 6-7 miles before things go
numb. Works fine for my commute, but not for going out all day. After a lot
of trial and error during a long recovery after surgery (these were the
days before barefoot shoes) I ended up with Sidi Mega MTBs and I could
finally go all day again. They're not as wide as the Vivos but they're
plenty wide for my feet not to complain. Haven't wanted to muck with the
setup—if it ain't broke—but will definitely try the Vivos + stiffeners on
my commuter and see how much I can get out it.
