Patrick FWIW, back when I had my Race Lite, I combined off-the-shelf "motocross-style" f and r fenders* with ~5" strips of stiff, black plastic zip tied to bottom of down tube and rear of seat tube, in effect continuing coverage for the vestigial commercial fenders. Of course, this didn't work as well as full Honjos, but it kept a great deal more mud off of me and the bike than just the "moto-x" fenders.
* Much like these. I see that this bike also has a second rear fender under the seatpost-mounted one; my plastic did similar duty.
