Joe’s spot on. There are Dutch versions of this idea, but the seat is part of the frame. Kid and wiggles stay central. Also, possible front end weight distribution geometry issues.
The idea is good, and the challenge real. Kids are happier riding in eye contact. Not possible in rear carriers or trailers. However, between handlebar seats (at least in our experience) require the rider points knees outward to get around the kid. Painful for medium and longer rides, and forget about power to the pedals. Grin. Our answer has been rear carrier as best as possible then shift to a Piccalo/trail-a-bike asap. They love riding those. Other than a dedicated Dutch bike that does front kid carry correctly, that’s the best we got.
