Excellent bike, excellent kit, and excellent advventure plan, Bill! I’ve ridden
the southern 200+ miles of the Great Divide MTB trail in Colorado. It was my
first bigger trip with my Hunqapillar and we had a blast! I found my 50mm
Schwalbe Duremes a stiff ride and doing it again would ride a bigger, less
stiff tire. What that might be would depend on what I wanted in flat protection
(I’d likely go with Orange Sealant in my tubes and ride my ThunderBurt 1.2”
liteskins). I also learned since then that a lighter, tighter load is much
easier to ride all day, day in day out. Fatigue from intangables is greatly
reduced when bike handling is lighter and tighter. The trick, of course, is to
bring what you need and only two things you don’t. Grin. I also found I prefer
my front wheel free of gear, which makes weighting and unweighting it as needed
in nclimbs and descents far easier, as well as LCG (lowest common gear). Feel
free to holler off group if you have any questions.

With abandon,
Patrick
