while it may work fine for lighter loads, those extensions are prone
to flexing because the entire weight of the bag is supported from
below and the bag mount is essentially acting as a lever.  it may flex
enough to lead to premature failure - i think i've actually seen
pictures of such a failure.  not the best design, IMO.

a well designed stem mounted decaleur doesn't get in the way of
anything - and with the right size bag, sitting on an appropriate rack
- it's rock solid.

ultimately, i think ideal handling with a front load (at least for h-
bar bags) is a function of a well designed fork/stem/bag/rack/decaleur
*system.*
