Good shoes and socks; I use thick wool ones from Costco, and bought my walking shoes at a REI parking lot sale. Warm weather gear: Good hat for sun. I found a nice-ish straw panama hat which works well; ventilated; tho' a hole is growing in the crown. Shades. The light here makes the light on the Santa Monica beach look like the winter sky in Finland. Clothes that breathe. I don't wear anything else, so it's my usual khaki cutoffs, cotton or better rayon shirt. Sunscreen for your fair-skinned folks. I never use it. Walking stick, just to have something to swing. Mine was made in Mombasa 50+ years ago; I bought it from a street vendor for my father, and inherited it back. Some sort of reddish hardwood that maker had transformed into ebony with black shoe polish; knob in shape of a Bantu head with, coiling up from the bottom, a snake encircling the stick.
