I remember I once rode from Ellicott City to Union Bridge and back. Sams creek road was awesome! I pit stopped in Union Bridge and headed onward to Sykesville on the way back to Ellicott City. Blew up/legs totally shot by mile 55 near Nicodemus Road due to hitting all the hills too hard. Had to walk all the next hills over about 6% until I got to Sykesville, then plodded back to Rt. 40. Hilly out there! Learned my first hard lesson about how to survive long rides by gearing down and taking it easy up hills and never allowing myself to exert on hills past normal breathing.
